The Pharmacy Technician program of Sault College has been awarded the status of Provisional Accreditation by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs for a three year term 2012-2015.
Sault College`s Pharmacy Technician diploma programis very unique as it offers fieldwork placement throughout the two years of the program. Small classes allow for increased interaction between students and teachers. The learner will study current legislation and standards which guide the pharmaceutical industry. The learner will also study anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacotherapeutics, and complementary therapies and self-care.
Students will gain experience with current retail software systems, inventory control and pharmacy management. Students will be expected to have a high regard for ethics and professionalism throughout the program. Institutional and retail focused coursework and practicum experiences will prepare the graduate to work in hospitals, community pharmacies, other health care institutions, and a variety of retail opportunities.
