Athletic Awards Ceremony

45th ANNUAL ATHLETIC AWARDS CEREMONY

The Sault College Cougars celebrated their successes of the year at the 45th Annual Athletics Awards Night held at the Marconi Club on Wednesday, April 11, 2012.  The evening saw 200 students, coaches, staff and guests celebrate a great year of accomplishments both in the sport arena and in the classroom.  Highlighted in the year’s accolades were:

  • Cheerleading – Cheer Evolution National Champions
  • Men’s Hockey – CARHA World Cup Champions
  • Women’s Curling – OCAA Champions
  • Men’s Curling – OCAA Champions
  • Women's Hockey- Big League Champions

Along with these, Men’s Curler Stephane Beaulieu (Sault Ste. Marie) became the third student-athlete in college history to be awarded the CCAA Academic All Canadian Award.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The Sault College Female Athlete of the Year was awarded to the Women's Skip Michelle MacLeod (Child & Youth Worker / Iroquois, ON) after she lead the women's curling team to their first OCAA Championship since 1973.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

The Ross Bachert Male Athlete of the Year was awarded to the Men's Skip Nick Dawson (Metal Fabrication / Sault Ste. Marie, ON) after he lead the men's curling team to their first OCAA Championship since 1992.
