Welcome to Sault College - We Can't wait to meet you!

In the meantime we've put together the top 14 things we think will help you get organized. Please use the following New Student Checklist to ensure you are ready for the year to begin.

REGISTER FOR GET CONNECTED AND/OR TRANSITION TO COLLEGE (OPTIONAL)

Get Connected runs on Friday August 30th to help all students prepare for the school year. Activate your student card, go on a campus tour, enjoy a free lunch, and attend helpful drop-in sessions!

Transition to College runs Monday August 26th to Thursday August 29th. This programming is intended for students with documented Learning Disabilities to prepare for the school year with additional supports and connections. There will be specialized workshops during the day and optional evening activities throughout the week.

 ATTEND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION!

Tuesday September 3rd, 2019 is Orientation Day for all first year students!
Join us to meet your faculty and get a feel for your program, attend a College welcome session with swag, games and prizes, enjoy lunch, information and activities, and get any supplies you need from on-campus service areas!

Your start time and location depends on the program you are registered for. You can review the Orientation classroom reporting schedule here:

*International Students: Before the Sault College Orientation Day on September 3rd, don’t forget to also attend mandatory International Orientation on Friday August 30th. Please contact international@saultcollege.ca for more information.

**We asked 1000 new Sault College Students, and survey says we want your answers to be part of this year’s Orientation Frosh Feud!  CHECK YOUR STUDENT E-MAIL REGULARLY AND ACCESS YOUR STUDENT PORTAL

Be sure to check your student e-mail and portal regularly before classes start and throughout the school year for important and time-sensitive information from Sault College!

You can also see your booklists (as of July 31st) and timetable (as of August 19th), and print them off, by logging onto your student portal at https://my.saultcollege.ca/ (access on-campus) or https://welearn.saultcollege.ca (access off-campus), under “My Records”

Your student portal access information is sent along with your application acknowledgement email. If you experience problems logging on please contact the IT Service Centre at itservicedesk@saultcollege.ca

 COMPLETE THE INCOMING STUDENT SURVEY

All first year students that complete the Sault College Incoming Student Survey by end of Friday September 27th, 2019 will be entered into multiple prize draws to win gift cards!

All information is confidential and will assist us in connecting you with relevant supports, resources and events via your student e-mail.

 GET YOUR CAMPUS ONE CARD AND ACTIVATE YOUR FITNESS CENTRE MEMBERSHIP

Your Campus One Card is required to pick up OSAP and access the Library, Athletics, Residence, student events, and student meal plans. New students can get their Campus One Card in the Library or in Athletics during office hours (Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm). You must bring photo ID to get your Campus One Card, and your card should be carried with you at all times while on-campus.

Also don’t forget to stop by Athletics in the Health and Wellness Centre (F2100) to set up access to your gym and fitness centre membership! Campus One Cards obtained from the Library will still require you to visit Athletics to activate your gym access.

 ATTEND FROSH WEEK EVENTS AND VISIT SCSU

The Sault College Students’ Union ‘Super’ Frosh Week is a great way to meet other students, get helpful information, enjoy daily activities and nightly entertainment, and make the most out of your first week!

Don’t forget to visit the Sault College Students’ Union in F1200 to pick up your free Student Agenda and to check out the other great services you can access through SCSU, including your Health and Dental Plan, Student Food Bank and Breakfast Program, chapters/clubs, your Searchmont Resort pass, and more!

 VISIT THE LIBRARY AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE PEER TUTORING

The Sault College Library offers inviting spaces for group work or individual study, computers, and a comfy lounge area to read or hang out with friends.

*Peer Tutoring: Check out weekly, drop-in tutorial sessions lead by upper year students for a variety of subject areas and programs to assist you in your studies! For more information and peer tutoring schedule, please see: http://saultcollegelibrary.ca/home/peertutoring

 VISIT THE INDIGENOUS STUDIES DEPARTMENT

Access Indigenous student support services including counseling, tutoring, traditional teachings, elders-in-residence, Indigenous Student Council, and the Indigenous Apprenticeship Centre.

All students are welcome to socialize in Enji Maawnjiding the “Where We Gather” Indigenous Centre (G1200). Community is important, so be sure to check out the student events, feasts, annual Pow-wow, the Sacred Fire Arbour.

Plus don’t miss free soup and bannock served every Wednesday in Enji! #betterthanyourmoms

 ATTEND THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS

Wednesday September 4th, 2019 is the first day of scheduled classes for most programs. Please follow your timetable found on your Student Portal, and see the Registrar’s Office or your Academic Assistant with any timetable issues.

 ATTEND SAULT COLLEGE HOMECOMING 2019!
