Celebration of Success: 2023 Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON March 22, 2023) – Last night,Sault College held its 50th annual Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards (SBA) night to honour the academic achievements of over 400 students distributing more than $300,000 in financial support. The event brought together Sault College, students, staff, community members, and supporters who celebrated the students' exceptional accomplishments while recognizing donors for their ongoing support.

"The Scholarship, Bursaries and Awards evening is an incredible and important highlight of our academic year and after the 50th event it is still as exciting,” said Dr. Ron Common, President, Sault College. “On behalf of Sault College, I would like to congratulate each of these students for their ongoing commitment and dedication to academic excellence. We are proud to celebrate each student’s accomplishments and lend our support as they move through their educational journey,” he added.

During the 2022/23 academic year, more than $2 million will be distributed to more than 2000 students through the SBA and other various bursary programs.

The SBA evening is made possible because of the generosity of the donors who support our students and our College. “Sault College extends its sincere appreciation to the individual and corporate donors who have chosen to be champions for our students encouraging them to continue to strive for excellence. It is because of their generosity that many of our students can pursue their educational goals and we are tremendously grateful and humbled by their unwavering support,” added Dr. Common.

This year, Dominik Prymicz, a graduate of the Aviation Technology- Flight program, was awarded the Governor General’s Academic Medal. Since 1873, Governor Generals of Canada have sponsored this medal to encourage and recognize excellent academics at various levels of the educational system.
