Celebrating Success: 2022 Premier’s Award Nominees

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON November 29, 2022) – It is with great pride that Sault College nominates outstanding Sault College graduates for the prestigious Ontario Colleges Premier’s Awards. Yesterday at the Higher Education Summit, these nominees – along with nominees from Colleges across the province – were honoured for the outstanding contributions they make in Ontario and throughout the world. Award recipients were presented in seven categories: Apprenticeship, Business, Community Services, Creative Arts and Design, Health Sciences, Recent Graduate, and Technology.

Please join us in congratulating Sault College’s 2022 Premier’s Award Nominees:

Justine Chalykoff (Category: Creative Arts and Design)
Adventure Recreation and Parks Technician (2011)
General Arts and Science (2012)
Digital Film Production (2015)
Justine has made great strides in the pursuit of expanding the film industry in her region. Through the development of her own production company, Chalykoff Studios, she has been involved in local and international productions filmed in the area. With a steadfast commitment to promote and share the talents of others through her body of work, Justine made a measurable impact in her industry and brought both heightened prestige and global attention to the Northern Ontario film industry. Her work with local artists promotes the talents of up-and-coming performers, allowing for broad scale promotion and exposure of their craft.

Ryan Vendramin (Category: Recent Graduate)
Police Foundations (2019)
Protection, Security and Investigation (2020)
A recent graduate of both Police Foundations and Security and Investigation programs, Const. Ryan Vendramin, a nine-month Uniformed Police Constable with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services, was shot and critically injured while in the line of duty. Ryan’s positive attitude, determination and commitment to community are a shining example to fellow officers and citizens, as he boldly faces the challenges of recovery and a return to frontline policing despite his experience. Ryan inspires his peers and the broader community, frequently encouraging prospective students to pursue both a career in policing and the Police Foundations program at his graduating college.

“Our alumni are an important part of our Sault College community and we welcome the opportunity to recognize those who have made significant impacts in the seven Award categories,” said Dr. Ron Common, President, Sault College. “This year, we chose to nominate and celebrate two alumni who have incredible stories and journeys. Their impacts and contributions deserve to be shared and honoured, and on behalf of Sault College, I congratulate Justine and Ryan on this amazing achievement.”
