Overview

The Plumbing Techniques program prepares you with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to begin a career in the plumbing trade.


This one-year Ontario College Certificate program emphasizes experiential learning, with training delivered in advanced, industry-standard labs that replicate real-world environments. You’ll practice core plumbing activities such as pipe installation, maintenance, and repair, while learning the safe and effective use of plumbing tools, systems, and materials.


Through a balance of practical training and theoretical knowledge, you will gain an understanding of plumbing systems, workplace safety, and industry codes and standards. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing settings. This program also provides a strong foundation for those looking to continue their training through an apprenticeship, supporting an accelerated pathway toward becoming a licensed plumber and a rewarding career in the skilled trades.

Requirements & Program Information

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, mature student status.

Educational Paths

Students of the one-year Plumbing Techniques program are well poised to enter the plumbing

apprenticeship program. 

Alternatively, students may choose to further their education in:

  • Program 4051 - Metal Fabrication Technician
  • Program 4039 - Mechanical Engineering Technician - Manufacturing



Career Path

Plumber’s assistant, maintenance technician, junior installer/technician or prepares students

for beginning their plumbing apprenticeship.
