Cross-Cultural Experience In Nicaragua

Imagine learning and making a difference. Now imagine that miles away.

Nine of our nursing students had the opportunity to participate in a cross-cultural learning experience that brought our love for experiential learning to the next level. They were able to explore the impact of culture and geography on health in Nicaragua. They partnered with communities to influence health and wellness, collaborated with Nicaraguan leaders and joined forces with a social enterprise committed to fair trade learning. Our College is partnered with organizations that work to empower youth and woman in the region.

From visiting coffee farms and exploring their impact on health to working in school communities delivering health education – the trip empowered our students to pay it forward. Not only did this experience allow our amazing students to help many people in Nicaragua, it also enabled us to  develop a scholarship for a local Nicaraguan student to attend a university to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
