Clinical IT Manager
Employment growth will lead to several new positions and several new positions due to retirements. The main trends affecting employment are the greater use of advanced computer technology by organizations, large investments in the automotive industry, ongoing development of autonomous vehicle technologies, the prevalence, growing concern, and rising costs of cybersecurity breaches, and key technology trends such as the Internet of Things (IoT), ‘Big Data’ analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI). Employment growth is expected to be substantially greater in this occupation group than average, as rapid innovation continues through 2028, as Canadian firms will need to adapt quickly and upgrade their IT infrastructure to remain competitive., and many will move to become large scale companies from companies employing under 10 workers.
Informatics Consultant
The employment outlook in Ontario is good, leading to several new positions, and a moderate number of positions due to retirements. There are a small number of unemployed workers with recent experience in this occupation. A labour shortage in Canada for this occupation group is expected. Through 2028, new job openings arising from expansion demand and replacement demand are expected to total 113,000, while 98,700 new job seekers are expected to be available to fill them.
Manager in Health Care
We expect that the labour supply and demand will be balanced in Canada through 2028. A moderate number of new positions and several new positions due to retirement are expected to create employment growth. The majority of job openings are projected to arise from retirements, with the retirement rate in this occupation group expected to be one of the highest. Changes in demographic will increase the demand in this area. Main sectors for employment of this occupation group include hospitals, ambulatory health care services, nursing and residential care facilities, and social assistance.
Nursing Coordinator
Employment growth will lead to a moderate number of new positions, as well as several positions due to retirements. There are a small number of unemployed workers with recent experience in this occupation. A labour shortage for this occupation group is expected through 2028. Main trends affecting employment are the growing and aging population in Ontario increasing the need for health care services, a greater demand on the health care system and a backlog of medical procedures because of the COVID-19 pandemic may support the need for coordination and supervisory roles. Employment growth will also be due to investments to increase care and capacity at long-term care homes and support home and community care services, and expansions to health care facilities and the construction of new hospitals In Ontario.
Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist Assistant
Outlooks were not prepared for Canada and undetermined for Ontario for this occupation group which includes other technical occupations in therapy and assessment. For the employment outlooks available for six provinces and territories (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Saskatchewan), job opportunities for all six were rated as "good" - a 3 star rating out of 3 stars. For Quebec as reference, employment growth will lead to several new positions and a moderate number of positions due to retirements. Work is mainly found in the following three sectors: ambulatory health care services, hospitals, and nursing and residential care facilities.

Personal Support Worker – Home Support
Employment growth will lead to several new positions and several positions due to retirements. Trends affecting employment include a greater demand on the health care system because of the COVID-19 pandemic, an increased demand for services to seniors, persons with disabilities, or convalescent clients in a home setting, investments to increase care and capacity at long-term care homes, and initiatives to support home and community-based care, including respite services. The main employers of this occupation group include health care and social assistance providers of individual and family services, home health care, nursing and residential care, as well as private households.
Personal Support Worker – Medical
Employment growth will lead to several new positions, along with a moderate number of positions available due to retirements. There are a small number of unemployed workers with recent experience in this occupation in Ontario. Employment is mainly found in nursing and residential care facilities, hospitals, ambulatory health care services, and social assistance. There is an expectation that there will be a labour shortage for this occupation in Canada through 2028.
Personal Trainer
Labour demand and labour supply are expected to be balanced in Canada through 2028. Employment growth in Ontario will lead to a moderate number of new positions.
Registered Nurse (R.N.)
We expect that there will be a labour shortage in Canada through 2028 with fewer job seekers available to fill new job openings. A moderate number of new positions and a moderate number of positions due to retirements are expected to be available. Employment growth will be supported by an increased need for health-related services to support the growing and aging provincial population, a greater demand on the health care system because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as investments in new hospitals and mental health services, and initiatives to improve home and community-based patient care services.
Registered Practical Nurse (R.P.N.)
In Canada, a labour shortage is expected through 2028 where there will be more job openings available than there will be job seekers to fill them. A moderate number of new positions and a moderate number of positions available due to retirements are expected in Ontario.
