Health Assessment - May 14, 2024

Health Assessment is designed to provide the student with the cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills required to conduct a complete physical examination and health assessment of the client across the life cycle. Included are health history taking, physical examination skills, health promotion techniques and clinical decision making. The focus will be on the adult client who faces health challenges and life transitions. Rationale: Health assessment and physical examination provides data needed to initiate planning, implementation of nursing care measures and evaluation of the nursing interventions related to the client’s health status. This is essential for your role as a nurse in providing healing interventions for clients and families across the life span. Knowledge of normal health provides a framework for understanding the health challenges clients may face and further assessment and interventions in meeting them.
